Voting opens for World Archery’s 2015 Athlete of the Year Awards

Voting for World Archery’s official Athletes of the Year 2015 opened on 1 December, with a shortlist of 25 archers across five categories – recurve men, recurve women, compound men, compound women and para athlete – nominated for the award.

Nominees include two-time Archery World Cup Champion Sara Lopez, World Archery Champions Kim Woojin, Ki Bo Bae and Stephan Hansen, and world number ones Choi Misun and Sebastien Peineau.

The public poll makes up 50 percent of the deciding vote for the award, with a panel of archery experts lending their picks to the decision.

World Archery is also accepting submissions from the public for its Photograph of the Year and Volunteer of the Year Awards. The former celebrates professional and amateur images captured by archery fans and the latter the time dedicated to the sport by exceptional individuals in communities, regions and countries around the world.

The winners of the awards are to be revealed on 29 January 2016, during the fourth stage and final of the Indoor Archery World Cup in Las Vegas.

“Now in its second year, the World Archery Gala has proved an excellent opportunity to highlight the incredible achievements of some of our elite athletes while celebrating participation in archery at all levels,” said World Archery Secretary General Tom Dielen.

The voting and deadline submission is midnight 31 December 2015.
