Five gender equity awards presented at the 2023 Congress in Berlin

First awarded in 2009 as the Women’s Award, the new Gender Equity Award was presented for the first time at the 2023 Congress in Berlin to five personalities.

World Archery relaunched its gender equity awards to mark International Women’s Day in March 2023.

Alberto César dos Santos Moreira received the prize for his initiative to promote gender equity in para archery in Brazil and Gummi Gudjonsson for his significant contribution to advancing gender equity in Iceland.

Greek coach Christos Karmoiris was rewarded for implementing significant projects in Saudi Arabia, a country where men's and women's archery had previously been strictly separated from each other.

Irena Rosa has been acting as a role model in Slovenia from regional to international level as an athlete, judge, official and technical delegate for several decades.

Uzbekistan’s Ziyodakhon Abdusattorova is a role model as an archer in a country where shooting lines are dominated by men, inspiring other young women to pursue archery into adulthood.

Multiple gender equity awards can be issued at each edition of the World Archery Congress to individuals – irrelevant of gender – that have made a significant impact in ensuring equal opportunities or effecting meaningful change towards equality, in any role, within the sport of archery.

Korea won the nations’ trophy for the 2022 season of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, ahead of second-placed India and third-placed Chinese Taipei. The prize ranks national teams on the total points accrued across all categories on the outdoor circuit.

Six silver plaquettes and 12 bronze plaquettes were also awarded and a dozen retiring officials were thanked for their years of service.

The 55th World Archery Congress was held in Berlin, Germany on 27-28 ahead of the 2023 Hyundai World Archery Championships.

Gender equity awards

It rewards individuals who have made affirmative action in ensuring fairness across genders. Five personalities were presented with the honour in 2023:
